Having broken through for a maiden race win this preparation in the Group 2 Hollindale Stakes (1800m) last time out, Gerald Ryan has confirmed Streama will contest the 2014 Doomben Cup.

A standout performer in each of her racing preparations since debuting on course at the beginning of 2010, Streama was arguably most impressive over the 2013 calendar, finishing outside the places just once in ten appearances and claiming a strong victory in the Group 1 George Main Stakes (1600m) on September 21st.

Confirmed to retire into a breeding career come the 2014 spring, the Stratum mare arguably poses the biggest chance of success in field for the 2014 Doomben Cup.

Trainer Peter Moody is set to launch a three-pronged attack on the 2014 Doomben Cup, having accepted positions for Fat Al, Floria and Kitten On The Run.

Securing an impressive total of seven wins and four places from 21 race starts to date, Fat Al is yet to reach peak condition in 2014 despite winning the Listed Golden Mile (1600m) on March 15th, but will be a serious contender in the Doomben Cup is allocated a favourable barrier.

Contesting an impressive racing career under the guidance of trainer Stephen McKee in her native New Zealand before transferring to the care of Moody in 2013, Floria has arguably hit peak condition over four starts this time in; finishing second in the Group 2 Frances Tressady Stakes (1400m) first-up and steadily working towards another unlucky second in the Group 2 Queen Of The South Stakes (1600m) last time out.

While yet to contest a race at Group level since arriving at Moody’s stables at the conclusion of 2013, Kitten On The Run has quickly taken to the Australian way of racing; claiming the Pavilion Plate (1700m) ahead of a talented field on April 12th before displaying a strong turn of foot to finish third in the Schweppes Handicap (1800m) last time out.

Chris Waller is also set to be offered three good chances of success in the 2014 Doomben Cup, having accepted positions for Junoob, Moriarty and Vilanova.

Claiming nine wins and seven places from 26 competitive starts to date, Junoob has returned to racing in career best form this preparation; securing four victories alone including both the Listed Randwick City Stakes (2000m) and Group 3 Neville Sellwood Stakes (2000m) most notably.

A standout performer over the 2013 winter, Moriarty won the Listed Lord Mayors Cup (2000m) on May 11th, and while blocked for a run and fourth in the Group 2 Eagle Farm Cup (2200m), returned to winning form when strolling home to claim the Group 2 Brisbane Cup (2400m) on June 8th.

A mainstay is high quality races since debuting on track in the spring of 2012, Vilanova has received an ideal lead up to the 2014 Doomben Cup, winning the Group 2 Autumn Classic (1800m) with ease on February 22nd and overcoming an early check to run on for fifth in the Group 2 Nathan Berry Tulloch Stakes (2000m) most notably.

In-form Team Hawkes-trained stayer Leebaz has also been confirmed in first acceptances for the 2014 Doomben Cup, and is set to be joined by Perfect Start and Slow Pace.
