Brown Attempts Six Season Wins In 2011 Doomben Cup

May 20th, 2011

Jockey Corey Brown will be attempting to ride his sixth Group 1 of the season when he jumps aboard Shoot Out in the 2011 Doomben Cup this Saturday May 21, 2011.

Shoot Out will be attempting to win his eighth race in the 2,020 metre Doomben Cup.

The talented High Chaparral gelding has won seven of his 27 race starts against some of the highest quality horse racing fields and has accrued more than $1.8 million.

The four-year-old most recently finished fifth in the Group 2 Hollindale Stakes at the Gold Coast and will be looking to produce his first win since August last year in the 2011 Doomben Cup.

Brown feels that Shoot Out’s favourable barrier draw could make all the difference come Saturday.

”He has drawn perfect in three on Saturday and his runs in Sydney were okay over the shorter courses,” Brown said.

”He was luckless the other day at the Gold Coast when caught in behind them but it may have been a blessing.

“If he had been opened up it may have flattened him.”

Shoot Out’s trainer John Wallace has told Brown that he is confident of Shoot Out’s winning chances.

”John has said the horse has done really well and I’m hoping he can go to the next level,” Brown said.
